Edge of Life

2024, 30 minute performance and digital film

In this stage performance, a sentient computer interviews the artist John Menick in order to clone his consciousness. For thirty minutes the computer and artist discuss uploaded minds, parasitoid wasps, telepathic monkeys, vampires, and an island populated by holograms. Part reverse Turing Test, part technological horror story, “Edge of Life” enacts how artificial intelligence may come to foreclose our future.

Commissioned for the 17th edition of Lo Schermo dell’arte.
